Let me tell you all about it!

In 2022 the Lord put a special calling on my heart…

If we haven’t met, my name is Candace Sessums and I have been writing and publishing under several pen names and in multiple genres for thirteen years! I’ve been blessed to know the Lord most of my life, but as an author I wasn’t always comfortable sharing that. A number of years ago that changed when God challenged me in ways I never imagined.

A BIG message…

After the Dobbs ruling in June of 2022 sent the abortion issue back to the states there was a lot of rage in “authorland.” My first instinct was to rage right back. But God told me He wanted something different from me. His message was clear:

“Do good.”

But how? Well, I had an idea. What if a group of authors banded together to publish anthologies and donated 100% of the net profits to a life charity? Even though I thought it was a good idea and that it would be a way to meet the Lord’s calling, I was hesitant. There were plenty of reasons to be reluctant too. The climate among authors was weighted heavily towards “my body, my choice” which might mean I would face some backlash from my peers. Readers too were divided on the issue so that was a concern too. And if I had those concerns, how would I get other authors to join such a venture?

Chance turned to blessing…

I took a chance and sent a message to an author friend I’d known for a few years. I told her about my idea and to my surprise… she said she had been having the same thoughts! To us, recent events were a clarion call to pro-life America.  It was time for us to put boots on the ground and get to work; babies, women, and men all needed help.

So that was it… if God put it on both our hearts, the instruction was clear.

Books-4-Babies was born…

That year it was just the two of us. We put two stories each into an anthology and donated all of the proceeds to Choices Pregnancy Center in Phoenix, Arizona. God blessed that book… and then He blessed the entire project when more authors joined us for the next collection, that one benefitting Abundant Life Pregnancy Care Center in Athens, Texas… and even more authors for the next which earned our biggest donation to date for True Care Women’s Resource Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Now in October, 2024, we’re set to release our FOURTH books-4-babies charity anthology! And we can’t wait to share more about it in the coming weeks.
